Can’t shame the unashamed.

by Melina Stephen

Sharing you story will empower some and upset others. Share it anyways. I remember as I started to promote my 1st book called Overcoming. I got a lot of negative feedback and backlash for sharing my story, I was even told that I was embarrassing my family with my own personal story. Here are some points to consider when you are faced with difficulty and adversity and deciding if to share you story with others.

Ps 22:22 “ I will  tell of your names to my brothers, in the mist of the congregation I will praise you”.

Your story brings value- by sharing you help others to realize that they are not alone. It helps someone get through a tough time.

Be grateful- gratitude gives you a better perspective and shows you the importance of life and helps to you remain humble.

Be vulnerable – do not pretend that you are not struggling, we all are struggling with simple things, for example not many women can multitask.

Support – the right persons and community will support you; your story is not for everyone and you need to be ok with that.

Lessons learnt- learning from what went wrong or what when right and understanding how to handle it next time if the need arise.

Raise awareness-  your story raises awareness, helps you find your voice, boost confidence and helps encourages others in their journey.

Share it- it is your story , share it anyways and  in the way that you experience it, own up to your feelings, don’t let anyone tell you that your feelings are not valid or false.

Be liberated-  sharing your story allows you to be liberated, be proud of your journey, your trials and your successes. This is your story embrace it.

Very important and practical reminders abut the strength we gain from sharing our stories and experiences. May the ones who need to hear your story hear it and may they find strength and confidence from hearing it. Blessings
