Q & A
Learn more about me
Hi friends, I like to consider myself a life-with-style author, get it? I write about life, and I add my style to it.
After having Afro-Caribbean Canadian kids, I saw the lack of diversity and inclusion and very few books by black authors at my local libraries. I became the change I needed to see. As a mother, I love reading stories to my daughters. Seeing their eyes light up and their creativity to think and ask questions propelled me to start a YouTube channel, Melina Stephen.
To create diverse literature within the Caribbean, African diaspora, Canada, and the world.
As a Christian woman, I became compassionate about helping women overcome adversity through empowerment within the pages of my books. I encourage women that with Jesus Christ, they can overcome just as I have.
My books, the lessons in each story, and the colors are all rooted in my upbringing growing up on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia.
I had a wonderful childhood overall, but it was stained by the deaths of my mother at age six and my maternal grandmother at age 9, the women my heart loved the most. I didn’t have enough time with them to learn from them; to be honest, all my books are life lessons for my daughters.
While I love writing, helping other writers and authors is also my passion, which is why I have created courses and resources to help others become as successful as I have.
If that’s not enough, I’m a personal fitness trainer with a YouTube channel, nenoi_lucianz, and I have my fitness and body care line at theladyisqueen.com.
While I love writing, helping other writers and authors is also my passion, which is why I have created courses and resources to help others become as successful as I have.
I know I am your new favorite author; let’s get others on board too.
If you can’t find me writing, eating hot baked goods, or drinking cocoa tea, maybe I’m at church, the gym, home with my daughters, or in the store’s garden section buying plants I don’t have space for.
If you’d like to know more about my books, click shop, send me an email, or reach out on any of my socials. I’m open for interviews; bloggers, vloggers, news outlets, or podcasters are welcome. Thank you.
